Wonderland and its Wonders

Wonderland is the special place in our school which has all the tones of green. Of course, we all know that. But perhaps we are passing it everyday without appreciating its true value.

The place we now know as "Wonderland" was very different once upon a time. That's right, it wasn't as green as it is today.

A couple of years ago (the exact amount of time is unfortunately unknown), when there was no grass at all in the area we call "Wonderland" today, some preparation students looked at this area that had nothing but dry soil and thought, "Maybe we can make something better out of this place." And people could have thought they were crazy, but who could have guessed what they were going to succeed at!

These preparation students first got together and brainstormed how to increase the soil's quality. But soon after, they realized that they were in need of a lot of muscle power. Re-greening a garden wasn't so easy! They finally agreed that making a CIP project or opening a club to cooperate with more people would be the best solution.

But obviously, they couldn't start a CIP project or open a club because they were still preparation year students. But they didn't give up on their goal to start a CIP project–and after a year, they finally achieved their goal of starting a little CIP project and developing their ideas.

The process to make this land greener was hard, of course–especially when you consider that much soil to take care of and a lot of plants to plant. It didn't always go well. Sometimes the flowers they had just planted couldn't catch up with heavy rain and were dismantled from their roots. Sometimes it was so dry that even when they watered the plants, it wasn't enough; they still died because of drought. These students needed additional help, and the help fortunately came.

That little CIP project got bigger and bigger over time. Not just only their friends, no–but their teachers and staff helped them, as well. The small, green grasses grew strong and became long. The grass spread all across the garden and grew until it was the size of the Wonderland we know today.

After some time, the students that once gave this lifeless land life started graduating. But even though they are not at Robert College or in Wonderland now, no longer watering the flowers, they aren't completely gone. They are still living in our minds as the people who proved that with the correct caring and enough effort, even the driest land can be turned into a flowering garden.

Now, what if I said to you that actually not only people they knew but also people that weren't even acquaintances to them actually helped them, and they are still among us? Yes, that is right. They are us.

As the people who still remember their legacy and make their efforts worth it by not harming the Wonderland, we are still helping them even though they have graduated from this school and moved on with their lives.

By remembering Wonderland's legacy, we remember their legacy.
