Introducing Frau Tuna
Robert College is welcoming one of the newest members of the language department! RC community is excited to welcome our new German teacher, Ms. Tuna, by getting to know her better.
Ms. Tuna was born and raised in İstanbul, and she hasn't lived anywhere else due to her passionate love for the city, which bound her to itIronically, she was born in the German Hospital in Taksim. Maybe it was her destiny to become a German teacher after all. Despite this coincidence early in her life, Ms. Tuna says she never imagined herself as a teacher while growing up. She had many passions and a desire to live life to its fullest. It wouldn't be wrong to say that she has tried all kinds of hobbies. As a previous member of a rock band, she continues to enjoy playing the piano. She actually played in a theater called Ali Poyrazoğlu Tiyatrosu for a while. Needless to say, she has had a lot of diverse experiences before figuring out the field she wanted to pursue, and this gave her the time to find her true passion for teaching. Ms. Tuna believes that she could pursue all her hobbies by incorporating them into her teaching style, which is what drove her to become a teacher. Ever since then, she has passionately continued to pursue her hobbies, some of which she is planning to pursue at RC.
Her hobbies include being a member of a collective writing club for women called "Çünkü Kadınız Kolektifi," which publishes and sells collections of short stories written by the members. The best part is that all profits are donated to support girls' education, including organizations like Türk Eğitim Vakfı (Turkish Education Foundation).
On top of writing, she is also particularly interested in AI and even gives seminars on its use. Ms. Tuna is interested in Tai Chi, a Chinese martial art, and Qigong, a Chinese system of physical exercises and breathing control related to Tai Chi. She mentioned there may be a possibility of starting a Tai Chi/Qigong club in the near future at RC.
Her hobbies bring her versatility, which she applies to her teaching. When asked to describe her teaching style, Ms. Tuna says: "The content of the lesson should be meaningful for the students, my teaching style is having fun while learning." She wants students to learn things that will be useful and meaningful for their future.
There is no doubt that Ms. Tuna will fit right in with the RC community and will bring us a new perspective with the variety of her hobbies and approach to teaching. She already fell in love with the campus, colleagues, and the atmosphere, stating that she feels at home and is happy to be part of the RC community. She likes the way fresh air fills her lungs, the birds sing, and the trees sway, which makes her feel as if she were in a forest. We look forward to her accomplishments at RC, but she will certainly gain the admiration and affection of her students with her inviting, friendly, and sophisticated personality.
